Beige appears to be back in all its early 2000s glory.
Neutrals have been trending all over social media thanks to aesthetic-focused influencers tapping their favorite finds. From apparel and drinkware to nurseries and decor, it seems everything is melting into a background of cozy, subtle warmth.
However, rich, bold hues – especially wine tones – will prove to be show-stoppers for those brave enough to incorporate them.
Colors of the Year
Every color maker taps its tone for the year, and 2025 features both muted throwbacks and, thankfully, a few happy statement pops of color.
Pantone
Pantone has chosen Mocha Mousse (17-1230) and it calls an “evocative soft brown.” Other keywords from spokespeople include “indulgent,” “sophisticated,” and “lush.”

Sherwin-Williams
Rather than a single color, Sherwin-Williams has created a Color Capsule of the Year. The nine muted colors work in harmony and include a very ’80s flashback: mauve. As in Mauve Finery (SW 6282).
While Mauve Finery may work very well as a subtle neutral in your home, you may decide to simply introduce it as an accent. Take a look at Stanton Cable Beach in Merlot, Annie Selke Safety Net Earth Handwoven Wool Rug, or Anderson Tuftex Alluring in Blossom.

Benjamin Moore
If Mocha Mousse and Mauve Finery mixed it up, the results might resemble Benjamin Moore‘s Cinnamon Slate (2113-40), described as “a delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown.” We love Anderson Tuftex Pose in Enigma as a carpet/rug choice for this one.

Both Benjamin Moore and Pantone have incorporated their colors of the year into palettes for homeowners’ ease of use. Pantone offers five through their free Pantone Connect service.
Behr
A nod to a fine glass of red wine is Behr‘s chosen color for 2025: Rumors (MQ1-15). Bold and rich, Rumors is an elegant red. Behr has paired it with 15 other warm and cool tones to create yet another palette to consider.

It’s super easy to pull a Rumors-like shade into your home. Karastan Spice Market Saigon Multi is a showcase of rich colors: “aquamarine, spice, citron, sapphire, garnet, tobacco, charcoal and gold.”

Valspar
Ahoy! Valspar‘s color of the year is by far the boldest, and we’re here for it! Encore (800-45G) is a blue after our own heart with its nautical vibes. It will pack a punch alongside stark whites, of which we’re also fond. (Read our bit about white subway tile)
If you want to be so bold as to have blue cabinetry in your kitchen or a blue vanity in your bathroom, we have similar but less electric options. Take a look at Fabuwood Galaxy Indigo, for example. For tile, check out Florida Tile Emotive in Pride Blue.
Glidden
Glidden has chosen Purple Basil (PPG1046-7), a warm but powerful shade that may rival the attention of Behr’s Rumors. We’d love to see the brave among you who will put these colors to work at home.
Any true lover of this shade will find it in tile, thanks to Daltile Color Wheel. Plum Crazy could be a great border, accent wall (as pictured below), or accent niche in a bathroom.
Minwax
Stain is allowed to have its moment to shine, too, and Minwax has tapped Violet as their color of the year, suggesting your wood pieces will have “a whimsical and modern look” when violet stain is applied.
